United States Census 2010

The U.S. Census counts every resident in the United States, and is required by the Constitution to take place every 10 years.

The 2010 Census will help determine how more than $400-billion of federal funding each year is spent on hospitals, schools, emergency services and more. The data collected by the census will also help determine the number of seats Minnesota has in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In March, census forms will be delivered to every residence in the United States and Puerto Rico. When you receive yours, just answer the 10 short questions and mail the form back in the postage-paid envelope provided.

If you don't mail the form back, you may receive a visit from a census taker, who will ask you the questions from the form. Any personal data you provide on the form or to a census taker is protected under federal law.

  • Aerating Mitchell and Red Rock Lakes

The City has begun aerating the water in both Mitchell and Red Rock Lakes, using an aeration system provided by the DNR to stabilize the level of dissolved oxygen.

The drop in oxygen levels was likely caused by the opaque layers of snow and ice that cover the lake, which restrict the amount of sunlight penetrating through to the oxygen-producing plant life.

Residents should be advised that the aeration system being utilized in this process will create a significant area of open water on Mitchell Lake and Red Rock Lake over time. In addition, the ice surrounding the area of open water could become weakened.

The aeration sites are clearly marked with posted signs; however residents should use extreme caution with any activities on Mitchell Lake for the remainder of the season.

Please contact the Eden Prairie Parks Division at 952-949-8442 or parks@edenprairie.org with any questions or concerns relating to this project.
